I'm intrigued by the Jeep Rescue, but Jeep is known for having a HUGE gap between their "concept" car and reality. I sincerely doubt they'll deliver anything remotely close to what they are calling for.

If they do make it...I will take a serious look at it. I think we all will. I plan to always own a formiddable 4x4.

The greatest disappionment with the H2 is the appalling lack of clearance. The approach/departure angles are great, the 4x4 system is good/great...but we REALLY should have a front-locker in contending to be the primiere offroad vehicle that can "go anywhere". But the clearance under our belly is just lousy.

Check it out: I was on the freeway and saw some Toyota truck, large size. I think it was a Tundra? There's ****loads of clearance between the ground and the belly!!!! And the cab sat at our same height! If they made the nose more snub, cut the back off, put on a full cabin, gave it traction-control & lockers...it'd kick our asses!
(hope cranky Steve doesn't read this)

The H2 did something very simple: it made "HUMMER" affordable and practical. What was either too expensive or not practical for regular family use was suddenly reasonable. That was then. Today the phenom is over, and gas prices are hurting it further.

GM should find a way to shrink the H2 about 10-15%, put a diesel in it, give it some clearance, add a front-locker and keep it fresh with some neat options.

Opps....looks like Jeep figured that out!
