Guys, it would seem that water could very easily get in the arm joint and freeze, just as was posted by H2M&W above. As a matter of fact, he likened it to a frozen lock, just as I did.

partsguy, is there an o-ring or something that would keep the water from getting in there and freezing? Or is the arm engineered in such a way as to prevent it? Just curious.

Now it is snowing outside, so I better go check my windshield wipers. I hate it when they freeze.
