I guess in theory you could tie it to both the reverse and a simple rocker switch you install. Therefor if you want to be riding down the road and see the camera, you can flip the switch but it will also be automatic when you put it into reverse. You would have to separate the circuits via relays but it would work.
Also, you could just do exactly what you said and tie into a power source, switch it and have the lead going out to the Nav.
