To GM this is like you having some wind noise from the mirrors. They know it's annoying but it's not hurting anything.
Vette, the Hummer mechanic here told me that the best they have found is some type of "adhesive grease". He said it does re-appear down the road but it's no big deal for them to simply reapply the grease. Mechanically there is nothing wrong and no damage will occur, it's just an annoyance, but they have no problem applying a quick fix if it is that annoying. Some dealers just aren't keen on customer service. It's stupid if you think about it. If they would agree to grease it for free, one would assume that the customer would bring it there and get other work done. They'll pay huge advertising bills, but miss the point on things like this.
As you guys have said, this same problem occurs on many GM trucks and SUVs and the H2 is certainly not the first it has shown up on.
