There is no stock MP3 player, it is an option. The radio will state clearly on the front "MP3." I have the optional MP3, and it works great. I had to purchase a software package to convert normal audio files to MP3, the I burned them onto the CD via the software that came on my computer.
I was surprised at how many songs you can get on one CD.
