You can order the brushguard and steps with the vehicle, and it comes as labeled on the MSRP as "dealer installed." This is the least expensive way to order these accessories, since they are considered RPAs, and the price for the part(s) is figured by GM, and the installation is based upon actual labor time studies performed by GM.
If you order them after the fact, they are then called dealer installed accessories, and the dealer can charge you whatever they wish for both the part and the installation.
Either way, they are installed at the dealership, not at the plant.
