Our dealership sells 200 camrys and corollas a month to rental car companys....we do guaranteed buy backs on half of them. the deal is they must have less than 30k miles and less than $1000 in damage disclosure when we get them back, then we cherry pick the nice ones and retail them...the edgier cars we send to the auction...when we send them to the auction in large quantities the values drop because the cars are easy to come by versus when there are only a few cars available.....I dont think it is a bad thing for HUMMER but the resale values will not hold this way because 1 year old cars will be plentiful...in example this type of deal has killed camry values...the book trade value on a 2004 of 15075 is no good when the rental car companies are selling them back to us for 13600-13900 in quantites that are more than we can use..but on the older models camrys and other cars that are not available from rental car companies they are worth more than trade book value...i dont think rental car companies will buy H3s in extremely large volume but this is also the case with 04 tahoe's,suburbans, and trailblazers coming off of rental usage...
