If it does not seal from the engine heat it will reduce power by increasing the air temp entering the throttle body.

If not, it will actually increase intake temp, as it obviously wouldn't fully seal against the hood and would be taking in the very hot air from under the engine compartment. Kind of a Hot Air Induction system
