But there's an unwritten law that comfy offroaders have to have an auto transmission. Small or non-comfy offroaders may have a stick transmission.
Also sedans (Mercedes, Audi etc.) above 200 bhp need an auto transmission to keep a good residual value. Believe me... I've had a lot of personal experience with this point.
