Hello Hummer Enthusiast,



Come join us for some great HUMMER fun in the Tennessee Mountains. Whether you are looking to get your Hillbilly Bone on or just share a weekend of HUMMER camaraderie, plan to be in Oak Ridge, TN for the HUMMER Club event August 8-11. If you can get in Wednesday evening (or at least by 9:00am Thursday morning, join us for the pre-run day (this is included in the event fee). Registration will be Thursday evening with a chance to meet and visit with the core of the HUMMER Club.


Windrock Park has been one of the premiere East Coast HUMMER Club events for years and this year?s event promises to be another one you will not want to miss. There are trails available for all trucks and all driver skill levels. Every year we enjoy helping members get the most out of their vehicle. Going places you just did not realize you could take your truck and even some adventuresome souls who go places they probably should not have gone. :-) At least not on Saturday night with the banquet looming.


Everyone has a great time. August should be fun with opportunity to ride with the top down. Friday and Saturday will provide full days on the trails for everyone with a HUMMER banquet included Saturday night. The Doubletree Oak Ridge is home base for the event for another year. They have a great parking lot for staging and the evening fireside chats. Yes, we will again notify the local fire department that we have fires in the parking lot. Although I kinda miss the fun of the fire trucks and cops dropping in for a visit.

AM General is still supporting our events in spirit, just not with the technicians and the trailer. It is too early to know if they will send anyone, but we will also be inviting the former HUMMER of Knoxville guys to come out for the weekend. Without the dealers to support the trucks we all have to be a bit more self-reliant these days, but the Windrock event always has a cast of people who know how to make any needed repairs and keep our trucks running. Just be prepared to do more yourself.


The manager at Windrock Park tells me that they have been busy cutting in even more new trails. Make your hotel reservation early, register for the event online and get ready to come explore the Tennessee Mountains in the summer.


EVENT DETAILS

Thursday, August 8th
10:00 AM to 3:00 PM - Trail Pre Runs. Come early for an extra day of trails.
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM - Registration and welcome reception will be held at the
Doubletree Oak Ridge Hotel. Trail schedules, maps and all other event information will be distributed during this time. Refreshments will be provided.

Friday, August 9th
8:30 AM - Mandatory drivers meeting in the rear parking lot of the hotel
9:00 AM - Head out for the Trails
5:00 PM - Return from the Trails. Dinner is on your own!

Saturday, August 10th
8:30 AM - Mandatory drivers meeting in the rear parking lot of the hotel
9:00 AM - Head out for the Trails
6:30 PM - Banquet Dinner for all at the hotel

Important Notes:


Drivers meeting each morning at 8:30 AM in the rear parking lot of the hotel. All trucks should be fueled and prepared to leave for the trails at 9:00 AM without having to stop.

 Be sure to pack a lunch and plenty of water to stay hydrated.
 A CB for communication is required.
 Inform your trail leader if you do not have CB communication
