The biggest advantage of synthetic oil is that it can handle much more heat than conventional oil can.

Late model Corvettes require synthetic oil because they do not have oil coolers, and the oil can run quite hot under performance conditions. Conventional oil will actually "gum up" in the Corvette under extreme conditions.

Synthetic oil also flows much better when cold.

There is a lot of difference between synthetic oil and various additives for sale. The Corvette comes from the factory filled with Mobil 1, and the owners manual states that synthetic oil is required. However, the manual also states to not use any additives.

The cost is not that much more, so I intend to use Mobil 1 in the H2.
