You must forgive Alec in regards to his wheeling. He blames ALL the bad things that have happened to his H2 on everyone else when all along it's his inability to wheel.
He's a point and shoot wheeler. Kind of like a 5 year old.
Anyone can wheel a Jeep. But it takes a certain kind of person and talent to wheel a monster like the H2 and do it better without any drama.
That is why he is going back to the Jeep. That's the smartest and most sober decision he's made in years.
