I can understand why GM wants it done by hand too. If you don't thread it first, and make sure it going in correctly, it has the potential of being crossthreaded and damaged. The area on the drivers side is so tight, it makes it very difficult.

TIP:
when using airtools, be sure to thread first, and do not over tighten. A light hand is best in this situation.
