Default Re: The World's Fastest Police HUMMER

Ken You hit the nail on the head when you said built and tuned properly.

I'm surprised that many are so down on the 6.0L engine. Back when i just had all the headers, exhaust, cooling fan, tuning, and cold air intake I was happy with what the engine and ride was doing power wise. Then slipped on the supercharger and I was in heaven. I was happy with SC as We got 6 lbs. boost with stock pulley then went to a 12 lb. boost and We were running still way on the rich side. Rich means less power but, also if leaning it out to much You can detonate and blow a piston out a block. But, again Ken with Your words done properly with good tuning.

My goal is to push this motor to get as close to 1000HP on the ground so next year We go to a place in Texas that I have asked to setup a SUV 4X4 no internal mods class, to start a land speed record for SUV's. Allen Nelson most likley will go with Us to help with the tune. Most of us old timers on the forum know Him and how good he is. If not He provides to but, not all the tunes for STSTURBO. If he heard this he would choke me when he sees me but, as good as You could ask for. Only one other tuner i would ask but, He is My tuning software sponsor Keith at HPTUNERS and working hard to set records with stock firebird and pulling front wheels and running 10.9 @ 119MPH with a street car. It is his agressive tuning using His software along with all the meters i have mentioned to let You be more aggresive than a tuner sent with the kits. It is why MSD jumped in and asked to be a distributor of their tuning software and they own Superchips which is the plan for superchips to put HPTUNERS tune in the programer and make that peice of trash work and will be one of the best now. So MSD is sharp. So they think enough of it and watched what he did with a stock ride wanted to get them signed up before someone else.

Go to HPTUNERS.com and see what Keith's time is down to now. But, I can handle it if Allen cannot get loose. I will have it close with the final tune down to adjust to altitude, temps, and humidity. That will be mostly tweek. I will be almost tuned and at 1000HP i hope. May not get there and not going to blow engine to do it. It is why I'm running boost, air/fuel, and fuel pressure meters. To go with them Keene bell boost a pump so i can after runs make fine tweek to fuel pressure to add a little extra trim to A/F while watching meters and recording everything on computer with a wideband sensor that a company helped me with that can be run full time with computer that is running DVD, XM Radio, NAV etc. as well as running the tuning software from HPTUNERS. Computer is quite powerful by the way but, obsolete now since it has been 6 months that We built it.

The difference that keeps one engine together and another that will not is knowing what the engine is doing, air/fuel. You lean to get power tweek timing and if all meters and wideband says hey it is still a few points rich You adjust and get more power. While You do that in TX We add a ice bucket to cool fuel which helps air to be cooler when it mixs. I'm far from the best but, when an engineer tells you that We have blown up engines because We want to know what they can take so watch for this limit on A/F but, if You can get fuel and air cooled to this then You can tweek down more to this a/f and so and so and so. If You do what Your specialty is in the project of a $120,000 H2 and put the study time and research as well as getting Hummer people giving You test numbers You have a high probability of success. Then You really get a good feeling about info given to you when they are willing to say if You use Our info and mix with what you know. Then use all the meters as well as full time scan with computer on each run with You recording and saving tune being run. You blow a motor we will give You a brand new fresh out of a crate. So i hope i can do it without internal mods that some are not really even trying to do with internal mods. They just jerk the good old 6.0L for 7.0L or change cam pistons rods etc. and then say We give You these numbers knowing that it could be a whole lot more power but, they are offering a warranty so they choke all that nice equipment back. You think that they have gotten all they can out of motor you could get and then me or some other tuner like Nelson Performance take it and then unchain the beast. Detonation is the enemy, enemy is armed by heat and low octaine fuel is ammunition. You control those things all at the same time with computer monitoring backing up the meters and you want to be sure to calibrate moving from one area of the country to another and You have a huge chance for success by looking after all the details instead of just putting a smaller pulley on SC to run boost up. The blowups i know of was well i'm not putting my foot on it so I will go back to regular and save money. Then they forget and get on it hold WOT for to long and then you find pistons in places they should not be.

The funny thing is so many buy the SC install run pulley that came with it thinking that as the box said it has 5 lbs. of boost and that is not allot so they feel comfortable and do not run any gauges when they are comfortable they run low octane and if they had just air/fuel they would have saved the engine. I have had many discussions with Hummer people and they are confindent the old 6.0L motor is up to it. If it will not get there no internal mods then i will no it did it's best and i will throw on LS6 heads and pistons uping the compression and do a complete retune and have been told buy one of the best tuners in My area of which is a national company that if I do not reach goal do this and good ole 6.0L will get there.

So this is all planned way in advance so it is not just throw on a blower and engine boom.
