I can't remember where I read it, I think it was in one of the h3's manuals where it said not to disconnect the battery, because it could cause problems to some systems. This is my first gm, and I just wanted to make sure they didn't have some special system with the battery that I might mess up.

But thanks for clearing that up for me. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Disconnecting the battery is ok, and I recommend it if you are not knowledgeable in connecting possibly hot wires, and knowing not to connect into the SIR system.
GM recommends for any procedure that involved slicing wires to disconnect the battery due to the air bags.
I admit, I don't when working on the electrical system, but I believe I know what and what not to do.
