This information is on another thread called XM tuner location, but I thought I'd post it under IPOD Integration in case anyone is searching on IPOD etc. later.
NYway...I just installed the Nucleus NC-X2i IPOD interface, this also requires the NC-GM32T cable. The most difficult part of the installation for me was finding the XM tuner !! (see the other post).
The installation is very straightforward.
First, don't have the keys in ignition or have the car or Ipod turned on while making the connections.
1) Remove the glove box door. There are 3 (11/32 I think) bolts along the bottom edge of the door. Also, there is a open-limit cord on the right-hand side of the glove box that you should remove, by sliding it's mounting out of the slot in the glove box.
2) Directly above the glove box space there is a plastic panel that appears to be one piece with the rest of the dash;however, if you pull on the far edge (the one closest to the firewall) it will unsnap and swing down towards the floorboard. The XM tuner is located behind this panel.(very sneaky!!)
3) Remove the Hummer's 16-pin connector from the XM tuner and plug the it into the 16pin male plug on the NC-GM32T harness.
4) Plug the 16 pin female plug on the NC Harness into the XM tuner.
5) Plug the round plug on the white Ipod cable into the X2i.
6) Route the (ugly) white IPOD cord where you want it to be so you can access it ...I have mine run under the console moulding to exit right next to the console where the 12v sockets are. I plan to get some kind of mounting for the IPOD itself next. This allows me to plug in the IPOD and let it sit on the console or shift-boot area for now.
7) Plug the flat plug on the white Ipod cable into your Ipod.
8) Turn on the IPOD and switch the ignition switch to ACC (or start the car), the green light on the X2i will flash for a few seconds while the radio "discovers" the interface module. Don't mess with the radio while this is going on. If you do you might have to unplug the 16 pin plug in the XM tuner and start over to re-set it. Anyway, when the green light glows steady,you're ready to go.
The IPOD can be controlled manually,or by the buttons on your factory stereo. The IPOD is accessed by pushing the pre-set button #6 on the factory stereo and the other buttons are used for selecting playlists, individual titles etc. The instructions for how to do this are included in the X2i paperwork.
Overall I think this is a great solution for IPOD integration, If I had known where the XM tuner was and how to get to it, the entire installation would've taken about 10 or 15 minutes. It sounds great..much better than the FM transmitter I was using before.
