Default Traction Control \ What's normal?

Hi All,

This is my 2nd year with my H3 but I was laid up last winter so I didn't get out in the snow at all last year. Here in Michigan we got our first dusting of snow that stuck, enough that on some roads you were only seeing tracks not the road.

Nothing major so I left it in 4 Hi (not locked). Well, anytime I got it to it say to pull out into traffic, my Traction controll light would flicker on and off. This happened also when one tire was in the snow and one was only wet pavement.

Is this normal of the TCS system or could it be a senor problem that I should have checked out?

Thanks!

It's normal, the TCS system is taking power away from the slipping tires.

It's a good thing. It means it's working.

if its deep snow, just keep your momentum (within reason around stop signs and such)...I'm sure you could easily go through 15 inches of the fluffy stuff pretty easily...some people on here have probably gone through a lot deeper, though.

My traction control was lighting up contsantly last week during our big snow fall. It was nice going up hills without any realy problems while cars and other SUV's were spinning their tires.

For fun I plowed up a back road snow covered hill just to see if I would have any problems and I went though it without any issues, I just kept my speed constant so I would not start slipping.
