Well I ordered my h3 about a week and a half ago. I then called and tried to add the dvd/navi system and the dealer said it was too late it was already in the system and could'nt be changed. So i'm lookin into aftermarket systems. I want an in dash screen like the factory one....not a flipout and I want it to look close to stock and not out of place. Any suggestions??? Can you buy the factory system and have it installed after the fact??? Thanks-Jake

They will probably screw you but you can order the stock NAV radio from your dealer and then have them put it in, only problem is they probably want $3000.00 for it > but check > it fits right in the stock radio slot in the dash and is only a few more wires like the antena.

Oh jake by the way, mine, I reodered my truck twice, once after the first one came in, becuase it wasnt what I realy wanted, I ordered when they first came out in April, for delievery in June, but the dealer did not have the correct package info in April. So when it came in I just told them that i wanted it with both Lux and off road pac so we reodered it > yes I waited until August to get mine but I got it the way I wanted. The dealer should let you reorder with out problem or penalty.

if installed correctly, the only part of the warranty that would be voided is that which is connected to the radio system such as speakers, etc. for GM to void a warranty, they must be able to prove the aftermarket item caused the problem. so installing a radio with higher wattage could void the factory speakers.
now if it is installed incorrectly, and for example, it causes excessive battery drain, the dead battery issue might be charged to you, but again, it must be shown that the radio install caused the battery drain.

just make sure the radio installer knows what they are doing and will stand by their installation.

if an incorrect install damages the BCM, yes the installer is responsible, if the radio emits excessive emi, and causes interference with wireless sensors, that are will be voided.

I would strongly recomend you NOT add another stereo to the H3. It is pretty much the nerve center of the vehicle.

As far as warranty void... the rule of thumb is, if there is a problem that can be tracked back to something you have changed... you're screwed.

Now, that being said, if you go in with an electrical problem, the techs aren't going to go looking to see if you have an aftermarket exhaust. They are usually pretty cool about that.

Yes, just Nav.
The "DVD Navigation" label is a bit confusing.

It requires a Nav Disc to work.
(just make sure you don't put a CD in the slot when it's in there!)

Sounds to me that based on the info that you have they did not improve the sh!t design and it still only has one slot. The is one big reason to go aftermarket right there. Spend less money and get a more user friendly unit.

So what dealership to you work at J from the D?

I have added a Alpine radio to my H3 an no problems so far with any communication issues. The issue is that if you need to upgrade the computer you have to take out the PAC OS2 module, which is like a 5 minute job before you go into dealer for work.

Nerver Center of the Vehicle?! Hardly. thats more the job of the BCM.
I have nad an aftermarket unit for 2 months now if its installed correctly with the proper interfaces it will work correctly.

For a full size DIN unit I would reccomend eithe the Pioneer AVIC-D1 or the Eclispe Unit. Neiter of these will play DVD's other than the Navigation Disks.

If you have a Good Guys Store near you check them out the are going out of business in another week. You might find a deal there

Actually PAC-Audio Just reccomends pulling the fuse for the radio before flashing or Diagnoctics on the BCM.
