Has anyone had the rods that the lugnuts go on break or snap. I had a place take off my stock rims and add some aftermarket ones, when he took off my stock lugs, 3 of the rods snapped. I then went back with my aftermarkets on to have a tire taken off to rebalance the tire and 2 more rods broke. I called the dealer and they did not sound like it would be covered under warranty, any ideas?
Thanks

The dealer could warranty it if they wanted to, but I agree with their decision to say it is not covered. I work on these trucks all day every day, and I don't see the wheel studs (not rods) snap. Only if people put on aftermarket wheels with the wrong lugnuts do I ever see that. If they broke while removing the stock rims, either A:they are a bunch of idiots, or B: for some unknow reason, the selling dealer decided to tighten the **** out of them. Most likely, it will be A. Wheel studs are not expensive, they are already half way there if they have the wheel off. They should do it as a courtesy to you if nothing else since you're buying rims off of them. Only problem is this. If you can't trust them to take the wheels off, can you trust them to install new wheel studs, mount tires, and install new rims.
Scary.

Those are 14mm hardened studs, I also find it hard to believe that they would snap taking off a stock wheel. Did they show you that it happened before or after they mounted the A/M wheels? I'm with Hummertech that they probably tried to impact on the wrong thread pitch lugnuts, snapped them off, then tried to BS their way out of responsibility.
