You just take a small screwdriver, slide it down the side of the switch pack and slowly work it out. It has a little retainer at the back that will eventually work free from the soft material of the wheel and it will slide forward.

Then you'll need something small to reach behind to release the connector from the harness and the button pack will come out. Getting the SOB plugged back in can be a hassle the first couple times but you'll get the hang of it.

I had all mine out multiple times during this project so its not too terrible.
