Wife wrecked the VW Jetta last night, she's OK. In a 10 MPH accident she hit the back of a Durango and popped the radiator, quater panel (door doesn't open and mangled the hood.
What a pile of crap!!! 30MPH and she'd be in the hospital or worse.

Needless to say the kids or my wife will NEVER ride in that thing again fixed or not, it is Hummer time.

Having never been in an accident what's the best thing to do? Sell as is and keep insurance money, fix & trade, I just don't know never having a car this badly damaged. By the way the Durango had cosmetic damage.

Thanks!

I think it would probably depend on whether or not you need it for the trade in value. If so, it would probably better to fix it before trading it in.

Selling it as is (damaged) is going to bring you a lower sale price...depending on the part of the country you're in, some areas will be more and some will be less.

Fix the Jetta and keep it to carry on top of your new H2, kinda like a spare tire.

^HAHA...that was awesome!

I'm glad no one was hurt. NBow if I could only convince my wife we *need* a Hummer.

I say too, that you should fix and trade it. As I argue with folks in opposition to a Hummer, having a safe vehicle is priceless; you've found out for yourself that a VW isn't what you'd want to be driving if you have to have a collision. Vehicle price? Economy? Scrutiny from the general (tree-hugging) public? these factors can all kiss my ass when it come to keeping my family safe. ... conclusion: H2. Saving some MPG vs. my family's safety is such a mute point.
