Ok here's the deal. I went through a really deep mud bog a couple weeks ago (stupid I know, but it looked like so much fun ). A few days later I get a check engine light. Onstar says evap emmisions failure.

Well the dealer just called and said the evap can was plugged with mud - it all needs to be changed out, but they don't have parts and it won't be fixed until friday.

I told them I have a off-road trip this weekend, I need to leave thursday. They said it would be fine to drive it, it won't hurt anything. Take it and bring it back monday.

Anybody disagree with that?

****WARNING-OPINION****

F that S-Clean the can out and go wheeling. IF its still under warranty, go back and have it changed after your outing.

"Change a evap can".

Filled mine with mud too once.
Drove it until the parts came in a week later.
Have fun!

P.S. The gas cap was giving fits after that, and had to be changed out because it was throwing a code. That was on my 2003 H2.

funny story (which ive already told)

i got stuck in a hole that was deeper than the evap canister and water/mud got into the tank and then through the fuel system on the 35mile drive back to my home, and all the injectors needed to be replaced, as well as the fuel pump and the tank had to be cleaned.

lesson learned...ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS tip your service guy so it a warranty issue (that and having bought 3 trucks from the same dealer helps)
