My biggest gripe with the H3 has been a creaking noise from the hood thats almost constant when moving. If I jiggle the closed hood I hear it, but can't find it when the hood's open.

I had the same problem. I isolated the sound as coming from 2 rubber stoppers or grommets. The stoppers can be seen to the left and right with the hood in the open position. I sprayed with 303 Aerospace Protectant you can use another lubricant that will soften the rubber. While in the engine compartment I also treated the weather stripping and anything else coming in contact with the hood in the closed postion. To test with the hood closed I climbed on the drivers step and while holding on to the crossover bars (luggage rack) rocked the H3 iup and down to recreate the squeak and to test whether more lubricating treatment was necessary.
