Have had my '06 H3 for almost 2 months now & really love it. I previously owned Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Explorer and like it much more. It offends me when some of my friends say all you have is a chevy trailblazer with large tires and fender flairs. The 3.5 I5 is adequate, its similar performance, power/weight, and acceleration wise to the Jeep I6 4.0. I would prefer a larger engine like most people, atleast the aluminum V8 in the GM trucks which has 310 hp I believe. The truck is definitely heavy enough to warrant atleast 80 more HP. Other than that I love the vehicle. Some of the options I really like are the absolutely HUGE power sunroof, its almost like driving a convertible when its open. Also the leather interior is very nice, as is the monsoon stereo system, sounds super! I have 2 minor questions - (1). the daytime running lights-are they only the orange parking lights in front? no white headlights or small lights come on, as in most other vehicles with DRL. I just thought this was odd - I don't see any other vehicles on the road with just the orange parking lights lit during the daytime. (2). The rear window wiper, is it normal for it to only swipe clean the passenger side of the window? It hardly goes over to clean the drivers side at all. Was not sure if this was an adjustment, or if this is the way all H3's are designed. Thanks.

1) tell your freinds to suck eggs! They are retarded and don't know their ass from a whole in the ground.. Find new freinds!
2) DRL's are the amber lights in front. A few GM vehicles have the same. There are no other lights associated with them for daytime.
3) You are correct. That wiper sucks. I was suprised to see this too.
BTW- Welcome.

My Vette does the same thing too. Just the orange lights for DRL. I agree that the wiper blade should make a full pass across the back window. It's one of the only complaints that I have about my H3 though.

Thanks for the quick responses I appreciate it. Yes I agree with both of you, most of my friends love the vehicle as much as I do, but 1 or 2 have made the snide comments. There is a world of diffence between H3 and its distant cousins in the Envoy/Trailblazer/Canyon/Colorado. You cannot even begin to compare the trucks or SUVs to each other. I know they had to re-use the frame which is fine. If I could have been at the GM decision making meetings on H3 I definitely would have gone for a slightly more powerful engine, I think as someone else mentioned, they were using it in the other SUVs and trucks, and already had alot of 3.5s at Shreveport, and they thought the mileage would be slightly better. But if you look at the mileage on that all aluminimum V8 GM is using in the Sierra and Silverado, that would have been the engine to use in my opinion. I believe it has 305 or 310 HP, and it gets about the same mileage as the I5 does. My cousin just got one in a Sierra and its rated for 20-21 highway, and 17-18 city. It would have been a perfect vehicle in my opinion if they had that 300+ hp chunk of aluminum mounted inside the H3. Other than that (and the wiper on rear window) I think the H3 is an awesome vehicle. Thanks again for the info.

Tell your friends they did not use the same frame from the trailblazer, they took the frame from the Colorado/Canyon, reinforced it with two extra crossmembers and boxed it. So at least tell them to get the BS straight.
Probably about 20 percent of GM vehicles use just the park lamps for DRLs.

Thanks F5, I did not realize that. This comment was from a friend who drives a 4 year old 4WD dodge dakota pick-up & thinks it is the toughest truck going, so I have to consider the source. He is probably just jealous. Its definitely comparing apples & oranges.
