When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis
might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms. </P><A

<H5>Condition/Concern:</A></H5>


Engine continues to run when you take the key out of the ignition. You may
also find the BCM has code B1440 stored in history. Engine will shut off if you
remove the ignition 1 relay or if you dimmed the dash lights. </P><A
name=ss2-1478805><A
href="http://127.0.0.1:9001/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1478805&psdid=732&evc=sm#ss2-1478805">
<H5>Recommendation/Instructions:</A></H5>


Feedback or a short in the traction control switch between ckt 230 (dash
light/back lighting/dimming) backfeeding to ckt 639 which would keep the
ignition relay turned on. Replace Brake System/Traction Control switch PN
15163633. </P>

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If
the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining
steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition,
please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic
approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not
be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.</P><A

I have heard as they attempted to cheapen the 2004's they redid alot of the original engineering and the entire wiring is a basket case. I would not trade my 2003 for two 2004's. I am hearing nothing but problems!!!!!!!!!!

Let me see if i understand (i'm slow).
Replace traction control switch because it keeps running?
Dim the dash lites to shut off the motor?

What next open the cargo hatch to start it

Luckily we haven't had any trouble w/ our 04.
