Mounting roof offroad-lamps: Drilling?

Does the installation of the roof offroad lamps (original GM) require drilling? Also are there any problems known (like e.g. the windnoise you get from the marker lights)? Thanks for your answers.

There are small holes for the electronics that will be drilled in the roof. Right now there are no holds on these items (unlike the roof marker lamps)...the only fault I found is that at night you tend to get some reflection on the hood.

Isn't night time the only time you would be using them?
