All (especially Dan)

The purpose of this thread is to share information, experiences, etc. on how people are going about pre-ordering, reserving, putting down deposits, etc. on the upcoming 2005 SUT set to launch in July 2004.

Any information from members who are on this track or from *real* Hummer dealers who can explain the process (if there is one) would be appreciated.

Also comments and thoughts regarding pre-ordering/putting down deposits on a vehicle when we really don't know the final MSRP are welcomed.

Finally, any input/information on what the final MSRP should be and whether or not dealers will try to extract a premium given the limited production run of approx 15k SUTs should be posted here.

Thanks!

Here is my story:

I had to bitch and moan last year to get my local dealer to take my waiting list deposit. No reason other than they were lazy. That deposit is still in with them. Its just a waiting list deposit. I'm first on the list with them to order & buy one.

A couple weeks ago I got in touch with a dealer about 3 hours away from me who seems more receptive to my wants so I am probably going to pull my local deposit and go with the new guy. My local dealer has a bad reputation for sales, and I've had my share of problems with them with Jeep service so I've been wary from the start.

At this point I'm waiting on official pricing. Once that is released GM can take build orders.

Its anyone's guess on pricing right now. It really comes down to supply & demand at the time they hit the dealers. Hopefully there wont be a frenzy like the SUV had and prices will stay at or below MSRP.

As always, I'll post as soon as I hear anything!

Dan,
I was at the dealership yesterday picking up a set of take off tires for my new rims. I stopped by and talked to Tom. He told me that he had talked to you. He really is a great guy. You can't go wrong dealing with him. A lot of car salesmen could take a lesson from him. Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks Spike for the lead on Tom. I'm most likely going with him.

See if you can get some referral $$!
