I couldn't stand it any longer. I had to try these new Toyo MTs. As most of you know I'm a bit of a tire packrat. I've got a set of brand new stock BFG ATs on stock wheels, a set of 37x12.50x17 Iroks on black stock wheels, a set of siped stock BFG ATs w/o wheels and a set of 37x12.50x17 MTRs on black wheels. The MTRs were getting down to the 50-60% tread range so I figured it was time to try some new tires(in anticipation of the next Moab trip ). I've been hearing great reviews on the Toyos so I called up my local Les Schwab store and ordered a set.
I was surprised to see that the 35" Toyo was as tall as(if not slightly taller)the 37" GY MTR. The Toyo also looks wider because of the tread design and sturdier outer lugs. The Toyos look more aggressive than the MTRs, but ride as quietly as the stock BFG ATs. Directional stability is much improved over the 37" Iroks and a bit better than the MTRs.
I took the following pictures to show the flex of an aired down Toyo MT vs a GY MTR. Both were aired down to 15.5psi.

Take into consideration that the MTRs have been used quite a bit and the Toyos are brand new.
When I get around to it I'll show the Iroks, too.

They're VERY quiet. I'll be off-roading in the next couple of days to try them out. Stay tuned for the review.

Looks good! Dang, just when I thought I'd made up my mind about the IROKs you go and get these.
Why 35s and not 37s? How tall are the Toyos compared to the IROKs?

I'll check tomorrow. But the Iroks are super tall.
I went with the 35's because the 37's only come in a 13.50 width and those would rub like Oprah's thighs rushing to a buffet.

Think I just answered one of my own questions. Looking at Toyo's website it doesn't look like the 37s will fit a stock 17 rim?

Drty, anymore updates?
I got to test the MTRs yesterday at Aqua Dulce (Bouquet Canyon). Lots of nice climbs. I aired down to 20, but not liking the traction I get at all.
The last climb, also the steepest, I can't make it over the top ledge. Backed down, and since the temp outside was 110, I checked my tires, and sure enough, it was at 24.5
I lowered to 20 again (tire air was so hot, I got to use a longer stick to air-out cause it was burning my fingers!!) and finally made it over.
I thought the MTRs supposed to be "tougher" than the stock ATs? But after just 1 run, I've got plenty of rock rashes/gouges.
What's your preference in pounds for running on sandy rocks with the MTRs? I need to learn more abt the MTRs 'cause NOT happy at all for now..
Thinking I should have gotten the 37" ATs instead.

Depending on the terrain any where from 18 down to 12. !2 is for maximum traction and I usually air back up 3-4psi.
You'll like the 37" ATs. I spoke with a guy that had them and he liked them.
(As you can see I've been procrastinating on getting an Irok off the stack to measure. I'll get to it... eventually. )

Those Toyos look very nice on your rig.(even if there is not one bit of pretty shiny chrome to be seen ) I have the same tires except mine are the 37's. Mine don't rub, but I dont do the wheeling that you do. The toyos are very quiet, ride smooth and give the truck a nice stance. You'll love them. They look mean!
Why so many sets of tires? Are you a fickle bitch or do you use different tires for different terrain or weather?
