A new toy
We've been checking these out and since I've always been a fan of the bike building shows, we thought this would make a good father & son project for me and my two boys. Just picked up the kit today, ours has a flamed tank right now, I'm planning to buy an extra set of tins and do them myself though. It should be fun to putt around on running errands.

Re: A new toy
I picked this one up for $1,150.00 from a dealer that was closing them out. Most placed online have them for $1,500.00 including shipping to your door.
As for assembly, it's not too bad. There is an online forum and manual and everything is well covered and documented.
It's a 110cc bike with a top speed around 60 mph stock, you can change a few things out and get a little more speed, but it's meant to be a grocery getter, not a cross country cruiser.
For me, the majority of riding would be local anyway, so it works.

Re: A new toy
Here's the link to the company that makes them, you can locate a dealer on this site: www.kikker5150.com
It looks neat, it's cheap and it gets 80 mpg, what's not to like? Besides, Pee Wee's Big Adventure is one of my favorite movies......
One of the things we liked was how easily you can customize these, here are a couple examples:
Here's one with an antique finish:

Re: A new toy
Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that it's a Springer on a rigid frame.
And, since most people that start out on a Sportster inevitably upgrade to a big twin. I gotta wonder what you'll do in the future....
I just can't help but think of Pee Wee dancing on the bar to "Tequila" everytime I see that!
I'm sure it's fun...it's the stigma attached to mopeds and fat women that scare me!

Re: A new toy
It's all good, there is no comparing it to a Harley, it is what it is. Sort of how the H2 isn't the same as a H1 right?
I'm not going to be an apologist; I never said I was riding it to Sturgis.

Not quite the same as an H2 to H1........
I'm pissed I'm not at Sturgis right now....... only the second time I've missed it since 2000.
There's no riding that to Sturgis........ but I would ride it at Sturgis. Titty "Alley" at Glencoe on that thing would be fun. Can it do a burnout?

Re: A new toy
Agreed, after trailering to Sturgis, I'd have to ride it over to the festivities at buffalo chip!

Re: A new toy
One of the guys on the Kikker Forum is riding his from Maine to Frisco, leaving next month, other guys regularly do 200 and 300 mile trips. I'm not planning that for mine, nice to know it will do it though.
Here's a burnout vid:
