If you break your tierod and CV joint well offroading should it be covered under warrenty? It was my second time offroading in my H2 and I went too see how much articulation I had, I drove up a hill sideways and BANG the tierod and CV broke. What do you guys think.

What do you mean "you drove up a hill sideways and bang the tie rod and CV broke"?
Exactly what did you do and how fast did you do it?

If you spend $50k plus on a truck that was made to offroad everything should be covered.

They won't cover it. Most dealers/GM will consider it off-road abuse so I would not count on it. There is an outside possibility the dealer will try to take care of it for you but I doubt it.
Been there done that.

Ok.. small question.. If you break your stuff off road.. WHy tell them... " Well officer I was driving down the road felt a major bump then my car wouldn't go no more1. Off road, are you kidding this thing costs more then $50K do you think I would be crazy enough to take it off the road?' Shot in the dark.. or turn into Insurance because a Deer ran out in front of you and when you ran over it it broke your stuff.. Animal attacks on vec are a Comp. Loss , not a collison loss. Just a thought.

You can give that a shot but I know GM requires they send the damaged part back at which time they will determine if it was off road damage or regular use. I really doubt anyone will break a tie rod on the pavement.

It boils down to this guys, how you aproach the situation. Depending on how the rig looks, will determin how you can get it covered, like as in does it look like It was wheeled. Only a very SMALL portion of parts are sent back, and that has no bearing to it being covered, since all that happens after the fact, after the repair has been made. Now, if it was failed, and the dealer covers it, and it gets sent back, and GM frowns on the repair, the dealer is dinged the $$ back to gm..

You’re only doing what they do in the H2 commercials. Right? Then it should be covered! BIG-C

That's why I didn’t bother fighting for warrantee for my damage. The underneath of my H2 looks like DirtyFun’s picture after Rubicon. Unless the dealer is a friend you really don’t have much of an argument. The problem is going forward; if something happens on the road now they are going to argue that it was damaged off road and just happened to finally break on road. I treated my dealer fairly and built a relationship with the service writer so I think and hope they will be fair with me. They have no problem with warrantee on interior/exterior, engine, etc. We will just have to work through anything that happens to the drive line, suspension, steering, etc.

I think thats the biggest thing you can do, build that relationship, I see it here all the time...

How steep was that hill?
Did it break during the roll over?
Didn't you just recently change to bigger tires???
There's only 1 dealership here in B.C. and they haven't had a report of your incident. Give us some more details. Your vague insinuation that a hill will cause a tierod to break sounds fishy.

no no no, that wasn't a ferd, that was a wonderful Gm made(american, oh ya) k-5 blazer, with a girl driving too, wow! I have watched that clip over and over, and she hit the one spot of sand, talk about lucky.. Granted, i think that whole deal could have been different if the reaction was different. How about that SUV that fell off the back side, nobody died in that one either..
