The plastic exterior trim parts remind me of the plastic that fades in the UV and turns a powdery grey. Anyone doing anything to keep it looking good? I really hope i don't have to do anything, but i don't like that nastalgic "cheap plastic" look after a year in the sun . then again, living in Mi., you only see the sun a handful of times a year anyway .

Best not to worry about it. Use it like a Hummer.

I my self use Turtle Wax Tirewax Professional Tire Dressing. It gives it a deep wet shine look and it last for a long time. I use it for all of the black trim on the Hummer. I also use it on my tires

all right Hummbebe. I'll Line-x my whole rig if you do .
Steve, no worries, it's getting used like a Hummer and always will .
Arizona, you sound like a Turtle Wax infomercial . good idea though.
I really don't see myself treating anything on my Hummer so I was hoping to hear that the plastic won't fade in the sun. I was most concerned with the handles and mirrors. I guess if they do, i'll trade it in for a new one. one with a V8. and a front locker. and .....

Ma' Homey,
I know there are threads about it in the H2 section. I will hunt around a little more this morning.

I have used Armor All Low Gloss on the plastic trim and it keeps the trim looking new without being overly shiny. I don't know if it's a factor, but my roof rails haven't cracked yet either! This stuff is getting harder and harder to find.

I use ProtectAll. It works on just about everything except tires. Easy to apply. I use it on the entire motorhome and plan to use it on the entire Hummer.
The results are a natural black, non-shiny look that looks good to me on the plastic.
Best regards, Happy Jack

I use Stoner's Trim Shine. Just spray on - no wiping required.
