I have finally decided on getting an H3 and had originally decided to go with a manual. Two reasons, I really do like driving a manual and maybe slightly better gas mileage and pickup. Now the salesman knows in advance that I will be ordering mine so he's not trying to sell me anything on the lot (I also realize an auto is more expensive and may line his pockets a little more). I drive an automatic (all they have on the lot) and he tells me that the manual is a lot more sluggish and that I would not be happy with it. He's says that because of the torque conversion on the automatic it will have better pick up than a manual. Is there any truth to this and is anyone with a manual truly unhappy with their decision?? Looking for some sound advice....

That's BS. THe manual will actual have more pick up. If you want a manual, you may be waiting a long time.

That sounds like a complete load of crap to me. I have never heard of a manual being more sluggish than an auto

I called Hummer today and they said they did not know of any delays for manual transmission. I said I had heard there was and she transferred me to Marketing (she said they would know for sure). I was on hold forever and hung up. The salesman at the dealership was unaware of any delays as well. What's the real story?

howdy!
i ordered a victory red, adventure package w/ the 5 spd. manual trans. 2 weeks ago. i test drove the auto and the manual and the manual is more powerful of the line and i think it's more fun to drive. and there are no constraints on the manual trans. i think it might be a good idea for you to find a salesman that is not full of sh-t. --jp's-h3--

No constraints -- just rare to find one in stock.

The salesman is trying to sell one of the H3's that they have on the lot and make the sale/commision that day!

Order one the way YOU want it !!!

the 5-speed should offer better mileage and performance on and off road.. Oops now I started something

I can't wait to drive the stick with the Adventure package!!!

Hi All,

Driven a base/manual and have a Adventure (automatic). Love the automatic for my stop and go city driving, however the manual was A LOT more fun to drive! Plus it had more get up and go.

Alot of dealers ordered stock that would be mass apeal, I only saw one adventure at my dealer. The guy's are right, order what you want and if the salesman is pushing you, just ask to see the desk Mgr. and adk for another.
