Heh Guys,
This is my first post here on the H3 General Discussion sction. I am in the market for my first Hummer. I'm looking at the H3. This looks like the place to pick up some good info before I buy.
As of this point in time I have my Cherry 1986 ..59K mile Carroll Supercharged Corvette up for sale. It also has Fiske FM 5... 5 spoke wheels. I will be selling this first before I I head out for the H3.
I have been looking around at the prices in the Atlantic City NJ area Dealers. They all seem to be selling them for sticker price with no discount. I have also noticed that the General has been selling the heck out of the H3.
So ..it doesn't look like they'll be any kind of discount. Anyway... what have you found about the H3 that you don't like.
What should I be looking out for in terms of short comings.
Looking forward to learning what I can from all you HUMMER Experts..

Mark, that's exactly the aproach that I took. I wanted good information from owners of the H3 to give me pro's and con's and know what to expect...but I had a very biase opinion because I really like the way the H3 looks when compared to other SUV's...like the well known statement.."Like nothing Else". Coming from driving a Suburban for 5 years, I was concerned about the things that I liked so much about the Suburban...great ride, good power, and plenty of room. All of those concerns have been put to rest after having logged almost 3k miles. 1)It's ride on the road is awesome and I understand that I'll be even more impressed off-road. 2) Although the room isn't as big as in a Suburban, I never used all of it anyway. 3) The power is more than ample. I can pass cars on the highway with ease and entering onto a freeway is easy as well. You'll enjoy!

Ok....That was a cool thread... The Complaints were not that srerious. One maybe about the cruz control downshifting... And kneeing the tranny lever out of park..that's a little scary.
Maybe they will address those issues in 2007.
All in all I would have to say that for a 1st year launch Vehical..it ain't that bad. Of course the year isn't up yet. Wonder what the 07's are gonna be like????

Let me add, if the cruise did not downshift, there would be complaints...from me for one. As for knocking the lever out of park, if it is in park all the way, this can't happen...unless there is a misadjustment and the dealer should help that.

Ok...thanks for clearing that one up. Now..who's got the General's Ear on the new 2007.. Do you think we will see "NAV" and some of those other peske problems mentioned taken care of.?
And maybe some new options that we can throw money at...Tire warmers...15 Zone A/C ... Leather Headliners..ETC.. Or..would it be smart just to pick up an 2006...Pre Owned...As Lexus says...in 2007. I think I can see where the Starting At $28,900.00 is heading ....ehh..like Starting at $35,600.00
And I think this is a cool Forum.. Hummer .."Like Nothing Else"
But...It would be nice if they gave us some more Avatar Space ..Like Maybe 120 Pixels By 120 Pixels... How about it mods....??? Thanks..

What I have learned......
The mods are top secret, only the observant think they know who they are/he is.
Welcome aboard. Just keep your skin thick, don't click the goatse links, watch out for the news and weather icons on the board, and always be nice to the ladies (hehe). You'll do just fine.

Hey VNV: I agree entirely with f5fstops' comment above. The only trip I've taken in my H3 was to ARK and there were many steep grades...with the cruise engaged, it HAD to downshift on several occasions. If it didn't, we would not have been able to climb the hill at that rate. The downshifting did not detract from the ride at all. Hope this helps.

Cool...Understand now.... I have traveled thru the West Virginia Mountains on several occasions..and know what you mean about the old forced downshifting. I use to encounter it with my 86 Corvette in it's early years before the Supercharger install. The corvette uses a 4 +3 tranny..or7 speed. It use to drop out of 4th High into 4th low climbing those step inclines.
After the supercharger install..the boost came on automatically ..and smooth and you'd just glide up the mountain.
Maybe next years H3 will have a Supercharger Option..
