Dupi-Color Tube Steps

Anyone try to rattle can their side steps? I have a black pair that are pretty messed up. Trying to save them. Any advise?

I am going to have my rocker rails and steps powder coated. We'll see how that goes. It's gotta look better than they do now.

That was my first choice. But there isn't any Powder Coaters around here.

If you're going to keep banging them up, just rattle can them. The powder coating will come off under abuse so there's really no reason to pay for it over and over.

Duplicolor Truck Bed Liner works well and has a texture that will help hide any small scrapes and bruises.

Yeah mine takes a lot of beating. I heard great things about Duplicolor. What did you do to prepare them? Just a good wash?

Heck no. I took those chrome things off within one hour of arriving home.

However, I have used it on other things. Just wash them and scrap off any and all rust. Use several coats until you are happy with the finish. It takes a long time for the truck bed liner to cure. It'll be soft for several days but it will harden up.

Another route to go is just plain old flat black paint.

I now really regret paying so much to have my wheels powder coated. Should have just rattle-canned them as Phil did.

Now they are black with a chrome ring around them.

I always wondered about the rattle can on the rim's. How do they turn out? And does the clear coat on the rims make the color peel or crack at all?

I'll have to get around to painting my stuff too, before the rust get's too bad.
