I remember Arthur Ashe. A great tennis player and a very classy guy who did more for race relations in a snooty sport than anyone could have thought possible. Have a great time.

After Tiger won a few they started letting brown people join my Country Club. Not kidding.

Re: The best and worst of going to the U.S. Open today...
Arthur was the classiest guy on the tour or in the stands, without regard to race. He was a fellow of great moral authority and he elevated everybody around him. I think the reason the venue is named after him is more of a tribute to his character than to his outstanding tennis career.
Race was never on his agenda, and consequently, it couldn't be on anyone else's. He forced people to be color blind.

Nice night for the finals tonight. We even saw Gladys Night, but without the Pips.

Had a little scare tonight. Maria had been eyeing me all night (a little embarassing since I was with the wife) and she came running for me after the match.

I can justify any price for beer, but not this! Thankfully, all prices include tax.
