Default Aftermarket Radio DTC Codes

Just a note to those who have installed an aftermarket radio, and a new XM box.
When checking for codes in the vehicle, you will probably obtain the following codes:
B1001 Radio configuration incorrect
B1259 XM antenna grounded.
Maybe one more, but I didn't have it.

First one may be displayed since the serial signal to the serial data line is incorrect.
Second one may be displayed if you used the factory installed XM box antenna for the new unit.
Third unknown code is due to comm failure to the radio. This one is set when the radio appears to not be communicating with the other computers (primarily the BCM). Again, means nothing.
It appears some adapters do not send out the correct ID, some send out the ID constantly, confusing the BCM.

Neither of these codes prevent calibration updates; just proved that out yesterday when updating calibrations.
These codes WILL NOT set the idiot light, but will register in the system as active codes.

It maybe a good idea to tell the service writer that a few codes may show up due to the aftermarket radio and the XM antenna being disconnected. That way, the tech, if diagnosing something, does not go off in the wrong direction.
