Angry Temperature Guage is moving more than before.

Well just had the 30,000 mile service, a complete waste of nearly $1000. Anyway I was forced to have my brake rotors resurfaced and pads replaced @ 30K Hummmmm, dealer claims it had to be done to pass inspection. Has anyone noticed their engine temp guage fluctuating more as the vehicle gets older? Up until 2 months ago my temp guage has not budged from the center line on the display since I bought it in October of 2005; now on the highway and especially with the AC on it nearly hits the redline. After the 30K service dealer says all coolant and airflow is OK. First he tried to blame my Hunner skid plates, winch mount and roof rack as too much weight....BS. He claims to have called hummer and they say that that is normal to fluctuate and not to worry about it until the light comes on. WTF kind of excuse or logic is that!!!! Usually when the light comes on it is too late and you are spewing steam from under the hood. I have cleaned the radiator fins numerous times after offroading. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mine does that (35k miles). What 30k service are you talking about? I think the first GM service is 50k, must be a $tealer thing. Anyway, in hot temps mine will get to about 3/4, sometimes a little over. I freaked out at first, but really I've been in 100+ degree heat w/AC on, in dusty conditions and it's never overheated.

There's a long thread on this topic somewhere from last summer, might want to search...

I got the same company line you were given, bought 07/06 only time I ever got hotter than half way was wheeling at Long Ranch, Tx where outside temps neared 110, now w/28000 miles temp guage stays at half mark until stopped then it fluctuates from just over half to just under 3/4. service rep says dont worry unless it goes to red its all normal and we dont need to look at it. I thought maybe my thermostat was crapping out and not cycling like it should, but I guess I'll just wait to overheat

The $1000 bucks is a rip-off

What all did the dealer say they did for the 30K service?

I have heard of others being charged an arm and a leg for a simple diff, trans and t-case fluid change.

I was gonna do all that at 25k w/the local dealer. They actually recommended against wasting my money on it (said no point unless I was towing a lot or beating up offroad a lot). Guess I got a good dealer???

My H3 overheated on 5/18 and when it was towed to the service dept- they found that the thermostat was sticking. The service dept is blaming the 3rd head replacement job on the engine overheating. Anyways- my dealership service dept actually charges around $1500 for the 30k service.

That is exactly what they did change fluids, fuel filters, along with a tire balance and rotation but no alignement because their machine was down. Now my rig is all over the road and making a wierd rattling sound from the 1/2 shaft and tie rod I had replaced two weeks ago. Hmmmmm, sounds like back to the dealer I go .
