How much would you be willing to pay?
How much would you be willing to pay for gas before trying to find alternate modes of transportation to work, school, etc?

Re: How much would you be willing to pay?
You know everyone here would pay $28/gallon or more. Anyone who says they'd "bike to work" instead of paying to drive is a friggin liar.

I don't work in the formal sense of a 9 to 5 job...
I don't go to school...
The Yellow 3 is my only form of personal vehicle i can tell you about.
Cabs are to expensive...
I do use the local rail syatem to go to the VA Hosp but i must drive
to the south end of the line to grab the rail...
I guess as long as fuel is lower then a cab i'll drive

Re: How much would you be willing to pay?
I drive 60 miles a day to and from work...but I drive my BMW 528 (22mpg). Does that fit the definition of "alternate mode", Jamie?

Re: How much would you be willing to pay?
I drive about a total of 5 miles every day, our office is close to home. So aint no way in hell am I going to ride a bike to work...my wife and I work together, but drive separately due to she has to pick up the kiddo from school and i have appointments.....I get 10.9MPG on the hummer and she gets 12MPG on her trailblazer....really not much difference...
The way I figure it, if gas goes to 5 bucks a gallon or what ever, the resale of my hummer is in the toilet...so I am stuck paying the freight so to speak....

If you took 6-8 inches off that belly you'd be able to see the pedals. Work on it, man!

Re: How much would you be willing to pay?
TT gets almost 30mpg so it would have to be pretty high if I'm willing to pay 3 miles per dollar on the H2.

I also live pretty close to base, so mileage to work is not a problem. I would bike to work, but I love the lux of having all my stuff in the Hummer if I need it.

Re: How much would you be willing to pay?
I too have been looking to get closer to work. my wife and I could use the exercise of doing some walking and or biking. I have 40 of them hanging in my garage. I would already be riding my bike if it wasn't a sucide run on the roads leading to work. if I could come in from the other side it wouldn't be near as bad.

Re: How much would you be willing to pay?
no I'm an old school bicycle rider. I can't find enough stuff in the guis of real road bikes hardly any more. the stuff I have would be considered antquie by most standards even my carbon fiber stuff. the biggest thing I still collect is the really tall frames. I have stuff for guys in the 6'6" to 7' range in real old stuff. I also have a bunch of odd brand banana seat bikes.

Did you ever do any serious road racing? I'm into the bikes. I currently have a Trek 1500 SLR. Its a 53. You can't even hear it coming down the road as with most bikes. I am planning to do the MS 150 in June over in Texas if possible. I try to ride a good bit when family and work allow.

Re: How much would you be willing to pay?
I don't think there's really a limit. I work from home, any trips out are strictly for errands and shopping, sometimes to take the boy places. I already limit myself to one tank a month or $75, whichever comes first. If gas went to $10/gal, well, I'd just do a little less driving then. But I'd never sell the H2. Never.
