While my base model H3 is being repaired, the dealership loaned me a luxury pkg H3 with the Monsoon sound system. It sounds fantastic!

Can the Monsoon system be added to an H3 which has a base sound system? If so, what would be the cost? If I had added the Monsoon system as an option when I purchased my vehicle, I believe the additional cost would have been $695.

All the wiring to the rear sub-woofer. might be there so that should not be a problem.
I would guess the rear sub woofer assembly, that also contains the amplifier, would be expensive, then you have to replace at least four speakers (one in each door) since they are an upgraded speaker. I believe the A-pillar speakers are the same. I believe the radio is the same, just minus the extra plug and wiring for the Monsoon system
It would probably be easier and less expensive to purchase a good aftermarket amp and small or larger sub woofer, and replace the door speakers with better speakers.

And yes, it does sound great, at least to these old ears.

How can I find out if the wiring to the rear subwoofer is in place? This would save me alot of trouble if the wiring is there.

I am considering a Bazooka amplified tube subwoofer
(Link). However, I don't know if it will fit into one of the back compartments.

Can I keep the base door speakers and still use an aftermarket amplified subwoofer?

One way is to remove the left rear trim panel where the sub woofer would go and look for a connector, tied up to the harness that runs in that area.
I just looked up the wiring in the GM wiring diagrams, and hate to say they are incorrect, so I cannot say what type of connector, or what color wiring would be there.

(Guess I'll notifiy the right people on Monday about this problem in the wiring.)

Not to rain on anybody’s parade, but to my audiophile ears Monsoon sounds bad, much like Bose – impressive punchy sound for a few minutes, and then it becomes very tiresome. I’d rather recommend good aftermarket stereo and speakers.

Since you have access to wiring diagrams, I can't find an service literarture available yet.

I'm doing an aftermarket Nav system and i need to locate the VSS lead to the ECM can you locate the color/pin out? I assume the ecm is behind the glovebox like most GM Products

System is down, I'll have to try tomorrow. Saturdays nights and Sundays they do maintenance on the system.
The Hummer I believe has PCM (powertrain control module) which contains the ECM and the TCM (if automatic trans). In addition, most GM vehicles have the PCM or ECM located in the engine compartment; the BCM is the one located under the I/P.
So, which signal wire do you need. The actual two wire Vehicle speed sensor wires, that normally go to the PCM (or ECM), or the speed signal the PCM (or ECM) sends to the BCM to calculate mileage, and then sends the signal to the I/P speedometer/odometer?

I'll try later to see if the system is back up. But it might not be until tomorrow.

Forgot I had a back door into the GM Intranet site for service information.
The PCM has three large connectors: Blue 64-pin, black 64-Pin, and a gray 64-pin.
The vehicle speed sensor comes into connector C3, gray connector as follows:
VSS High signal is Pin 45 and is a yellow wire.
VSS Low signal is Pin 44 and is a Purple wire.

The PCM is located in the engine compartment on the passenger side, against the dash panel.

The BCM sends a class 2 signal to the I/P for odometer miles, while on this system, the PCM sends a class 2 signal to the I/P for vehicle speed.

BCM is located behind the right front kick panel, in the passenger compartment.
