SJ .... I think that my truck is a clone of yours ... didn't you get yours before me ? I picked up mine on Oct. 25 ... the "wind shield" or whatever that plastic piece is called give you a bit better gas mileage believe it or not ... and the lights are great ....

NCHummerman:

It looks great, my H2 is a clone of yours - or vice versa, except I didn't get the lights (since I generally don't go wheeling at night). I'm not sure if I like the wind ballast or not - mine is not mounted right now, but I like the way yours looks.

I went to see Sandra (and Paul) from Gobi to look at their short rack system (67 inches) to see if the brackets would fit to my crossbar positions - Both Sandra and Paul were great to work with me on the data and creation of bracket location.

In addition, I have a rear spoiler on my H2 - so their typical ladder (which is outstanding) did not allow the correct clearance for the spoiler - so they purchase a spoiler in order to manufacture the correct clearance for my ladder - THAT IS GOOD SERVICE.

In my opinion, you cannot go wrong (looks-quality-service) with any of the Gobi racks.

Thanks

Thanks

I really want to install a rack with tire AND get it into the garage. My garage clearance is 91 inches. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like the GOBI is the way to go - With their reputation for quality and their wonderful design for the tire and sunroof it looks like they hit a home run!!

Nope, I had mine custom made by a friend and used the Thule mounting hardware. It's awesome, and no one has one like mine. It's rated for about 500lbs, possibly more if I increase the number of mounts I'm using for it. (at the moment I only have four)

It rocks, and I highly recommend it for the space-saving factor. I'll post pics to this thread when I dig them up again.

Are the aluminum racks such that two people can lift the rack on and off fairly easy??

My experince with Gobi (at events) is that they are militant about great customer service. Their reps go above and beyond, and that seems to be the consensus of folks who purchase from them as well. If I hadn't gone the custom route, I would have purchased a Gobi certainly. I'll still buy their ladder as soon as I can find one in stock somewhere!!

I love the Gobi rack and was leaning that way. My biggest issue with the Gobi is that I like to park in the garage and work in SF and parking garages are low in the city. Also, I'm not a big fan of Gobi's low profile rack.

Wilderness racks just came out with a H2 sized rack. It is 4" high with a 1.5" bracket. Therefore, the rig and rack combo should still fit within my 84" garage. I'm installing this weekend, so helpfully it fits.

HumDog,

I just mounted the Garvin Wilderness rack for a H2. The rack was 4 inches and the brackets added about 3". So it should fit into your garage with clearance.

With a minor modification to the brackets I can fit into my 84" garage.

It is very solid and looks good. Plus, you can get all kinds of accessories for shovels, hi lifts and other things.

I paid about $800 for it.

My digital camera is kaput. I'll take some film shots and get them digitized.

The rack from Adventure Accessories is made by Garvin. The pricing is about the same as I paid.
