Question HIGH water

I was wondering, this maybe a little to late now but, I was out driving for fun and a Simi-Rescue mission yesterday; for about four hours in and out of the HIGH water that we we're having here in Houston and wanted to know if doing this may have Damaged anything. The water was up to the doors, but I never stopped just came to a slow crawl a couple of times
so the wake I was creating didn't slam into the cars pulled off to the side.

i would say the most that could happen in deep water crossings is getting some water in the diff. Its always a good idea to get the diff. fluid changed after deep and extended water crossings, but i'd say you're probably okay. Does anyone know how high the diff. breather tube goes up?

Well, after I went through this...the only damage I got was the horn sounded terrible!!!! barelly audible. The good thing is that when I went to fix my mirror at the dealer...I told them that something was wrong with the horn and they gave me a new one....(seems to me that it was louder than the original one) no questions asked.

T/case and axle vent tubes are high up, so if the case is not leaking, water should not enter. Even with a small leak, the inside is higher pressure than the outside, unless the leak is at the front and water is being forced in.

Good deal. With Jeeps we always had to be cautious about the water entering the diff for some reason.

I'll have to mention the horn next time I go in. After running through a bunch of water a couple weeks ago my horn barely works too. They must have given you an '07 horn, supposed to be louder.

DO NOT EXCEED 20" OF WATER. PERIOD.

The doors on the H3 are NOT water tight, and the electronics on under the carpet and in the door panel(s).

Take it from me, I have seen the horror of water coming in through the doors and shorting everything out. My Red 2006 H3 is now history because of it. I suspect it was partially due to the fact that my truck was at a bad sideways angle, and may have been torqued front-to-back, but it was still totalled with only 3,000 miles on it after owning it only 6 weeks.

If you value your H3 do not put it into water.

I didn't get the name "Captain of the Titanic" for nothing...

The captain's first post, and what he basis his messsge on!

I have exceed 20 inches of water, and so have many other people and we have had no problems. Then again, I kept my doors closed.

um captain, I've gone through 30 inches with no problem. The only trickle leak I had was because there was a little dirt on one of the seals so it didn't seat tightly. And that's your H2 that's rated for 20 inches. Ours are rated for 24

That was taken in an area near Titusville a couple of weeks ago. I will post more tomorrow, they are on my laptop.

Doesn't Hummer say that the H3 can "ford up to 24" of water"?

Is that a red crocodile I see in that swamp or is it just me???

Nice photo!

On that note though, I hear that the components aren't sealed for water and even if a snorkel was attached, it wouldn't help. Do they sell kits to waterproof these badboys?
