Does our front diff have a limited slip in it?

oops , i thought there was something in the front diff. that controled wheel spin and helped traction?? I think i'll check the level in it . Curious what the heck is vibrating.

So if you are in 4Lo there is a "torque liniting" feature that wont let you go over 2000 RPM? That is why it feels like I'm hitting a rev limiter or something...Thanks for the info, I didn't know we had that. And to override this, just shift it down to 1st gear...

Let me get this straight. If I want to float through some mud I have to keep it in 1st while hitting the gas and tapping the breaks to override the TCS and Torque Limiting. Jeez, why not just have a button!

If you guys are looking to get rid of the torque limiting (engine holding 2000 rpm), pull the tranny into first gear. Like Phil said, if TC2 isn't working for you and you need more wheel spin, ride the brake enough to light the tail lights up, and it will override the TC system.

We dont have lockers in the front. Onlt in the rear.

Try KY for lube! jizum's preferable for facials, etc. IMO!

If the front is locked (after market eaton or arb air locker) and the rear axle is locked its not able work , you could run with only the front locked
TCS would work in back ??, or only the back axle locked then would the TCS work only in the front with the back locked . If you say it brakes one tire when you gas it in the mud its fighting the eng. I dont want a power robbing TCS coming on .

If it is an open diff, then you should not add posi additive.

TCS/TC2 won't kick in if you locked front and rear, at least I've never seen it done so and can't think why it would, but it is still there. There are plenty of times when I'm in 4Hi that I'd like to flick a switch and turn it off though. quote:

Exactly. I just use first for the most part, just because its easier to pull the shifter back than it is to ride the brake (unless you are a blue hair). Alan, you would know if you were bouncing off the rev limiter, 6 grand, motor wound tight...

Phil, do you know if the front diff. needs any supplemental additive in it. Like some rears have a posi additive. I'm asking because my front end is making a harsh noise/chatter . I have looked at the ujoints in the driveshaft and looked at the front axle shafts, they feel tight. The noise/chatter/vibration is only when its criusing and not under strain. When its under power or turning the noise goes away. Maybe a wheel bearing?? or something, just looking for someones idea before i tear in to it. Thanks doug

on muddy hill climbs that darn TCS kicks in and doesnt let you spin enough, I have tried w/ the TC2, and same thing. Does it do something to the accelerator or do the brakes just make it feel like the motor is bogging down?

Also today I was in some thick, nasty mud and needed some floatation to get through parts of it and even when I slammed the gas hard, it still only spun a little.

I like the TCS when it is fairly dry, but when it gets a little slippery, I think it would be great to turn it off.

The t/c isnt in the diff, it uses a Bosch system that senses wheel spin and applies the brake to the spining wheel.
