Clay & Dan,
I thought that the tire carrier was removable?
Clay - in the picture of your bed, I see rust spots on the bumper...what gives?

Ya, if you look at the rear view pic of the bed, you can see that the wheel house cover angles up at about a 45 degree from from the floor on the pass side, it's only 47 1/2" right on the floor.

Alright ClayDog - can't just post that and then not explain:
1) How did you get it?
2) How long have you had it?
3) Are you a dealer, GM employee, etc.?
Also - please post some good pictures of the interior showing close-ups of the new ebony interior and pieces where the perforated leather has been used as well as the upgraded door handles/leather covering - and any shots of the Nav (if you have it) with different functions...
Also - how about some pictures of how the mid gate works and actual size of the bed (put some stuff in there to show scale...)
As a newbie you are obligated to do this - especially since you actually have a SUT and what seems to be a good camera...
Thanks,

Clay -
Thanks! Everything we asked for - much appreciated.
Quick question - it looks like there is a raised area around where the midgate folds down - in other words - not a totally flat surface from the bed to the interior - True? Comments?
Thanks again!!

The first thing I do when I start up is to make sure that the damn a/c is off. That compressor is a power-sucking hog.
I was really light on the gas pedal this trip just to see what kind of mileage I could squeeze out. I might have even broken 14 mpg if I hadn't stopped to check on the fishing potential of a couple of streams that have been calling my name on the last couple of trips.

I think it looks awesome without all of the blinged out pics we have been seeing put out by GM! Sweetness! Congrats.
Well, I guess looking at more closely, it is the color matched grill that really pulls it all off.

DAN,
I finally got a round to actually measuring between the wheel houses, your right it is 47 ½" at the load floor, but its over 48" at the hight of the folded down mid-gate.

Looks like you had some fun. Great pics. Pic 42... tell me you pulled someone out and that strap was not used to get you out.

Sweet, thanks Claydog! Don't worry, Dan's now undergoing psychiatric therapy and is reportedly in stable condition.

That's good news! Thanks for measuring & reporting Claydog. Plywood would do fine up on the closed tailgate, but sheetrock might not like the bend I guess if you were in that situation you could buy a sheet of plywood to go on the bottom of the stack.
I'm glad my bringing sheetrock home days are over anyway!
You brought up another issue I've been wondering about - what to do with the spare if you need to drive with the tailgate down. I was hoping there was a mechanism to lock the tire into the open position.

timgco,
We had a blast, I can’t say enough about the Kinzalows hospitality. About the strap, all I’ll say is the truck performed flawlessly, but the driver left a little to be desired.
Dan,
This is the first I've heard that the mid-gate is less than 48". I'll check when I get a chance, but it would surprise the hell out of me if it was less. That is something that just would not happen unless there was a very compelling reason for it.
