I just purchased the lighted door sills and of course they came with only a wiring diagram (which I dont understand). Any one know/have instructions on installing these things?

Thanks

i'll take pics of the items you'll need to make this project happen. i might not be able to put it together for u in a write up until i have downtime in las vegas, but i'll see what i can do. i'm guessing your fairly unfamiliar with electronics.

Thanks again Taz. I know you are busy so any help is appreciated. Well my dealer was no help even though they are nice. They said they have only installed one set of these and they were not sure which tech/or place did them.

I am going to post the wiring schematic and see what you guys can figure out. One thing that would help me is if I could know where the door micro switch is. If I knew that I could find the wires I need to tap into, but I can't find the micro switch.

How do I post the schematic on this site?

Thanks

Thanks Taz,

It just seemed a better fit keeping the originals underneath as it gave strength. Thnaks for your help it was what sparked me to get going in the right direction. I've got 2 buddies already wanting me to install these on their trucks, so yes, the WOW factor is great

Hope SEMA went well and maybe next year I'll make it!

Skylo5, welcome to the forum.

I don't know squat about lighted sills but since no one else has jumped in here...

I suggest you send a PM to Taz and ask him for guidance. Best I can see from a site search, he's the only one that's indicated he's done the job.

The wires get switched inside the coverings. I think I can just put both blks on the same connection and the same with the reds.

I can't believe No one knows which wires I can hook these too. I took taz advice and found the wires to a kick light which is activated only when I open the door but I dont know which wires (red or blk) to hook up to the light wires (blk or blkw white stripe).

The red only needs a "hot" source(only when doors are opened) and the blk needs to go to a ground. The clips are just for a quick disconnect.

Does anyone know how to test the car light wires to see which one is hot and the ground?

Rodster,

I will post pictures of the parts on monday.

1. The microswitch is refering to the switch on the truck(somewhere).
2. The invertor is small and is wired into the lights (wiring looks pretty simple) themselves.

I think the pics might help and I will get them up as soon as I can.

Skylo -- What came in the kit? Any chance you can post photos of all parts? With that and the schematic we may be able to figure it out.

Couple questions I have: Is the microswitch on the schematic the truck's existing switch or is it a switch that's built-in the sill? How big is the inverter and is it a separate box that mounts remotely from the sill?

Very cool Skylo. Congrats on the clean install. I'll use your instructions to the letter as I've had these sills for like 7 months, and haven't even taken them out of the box. Reading your post has given me some initiative(maybe )
