I'm not sure what's up with that.  I didn't notice it until I took the pic. I just picked up my truck this afternoon after having the rear axle replaced so I'll have to check with them on Monday.

why'd you have it replaced? did i miss something? my diff has some of those crack looking things too, i think its juts the casting process and not really a problem, but not sure.

Chipped some teeth in the diff - on one of the spider gears I believe. I didn't get to actually see the carnage this time since they had already put the cover back on the old axle and had it packed up ready to ship back.
The tech also said he found lapping compound in the diff. Kinda surprised since I have 36K+ miles. You'd think it would've caused a failure a long time ago. But whatever it takes to get it replaced under warranty with no questions asked.

Dripping out of the top (fill) hole is usually not a concern. However, dripping out of your lower (drain) hole is a problem,

Slap a Depends diaper on there and you're good to go! That should take care of the seepage.
