Anybody using Edelbock Xtreme Travel Reservoir Shocks?

I've been thinking about upgrading my shocks. The stock ones are just not doing it for me. They're too mushy under hard braking.
I've been thinking about going with some Edelbrock Xtreme Travel Reservoir Shocks.
I've seen them on an H2 in the showroom, but haven't had a chance to ask any one for an opinion.

Which model?? The Bilsteins, Rancho's, or Edelbrocks???

I tried the IAS on my Tahoe. They were great on the road, but awful offroad. Way too much rebound over uneven surfaces.

Edlebrocks, yes jacking up the frame is the easiest as the shocks are fully extended when you get them. The body will lift high enough so the install is easy.

I had those on my Tahoe just before I switched to the IAS. Sure, there's the novelty of being able to switch the settings and I even plumbed the set up so I could adjust it from inside the rig. But they developed leaks in the shocks and finally died after only 20,000 miles.

The ride is smoother and better handling compare to OEM.

Anyone know whay the manual calls for removing the air spring leveling sensor when replaing the rar shocks?? Seems like an unneccessary step??

Drtyfn, the reason I went with the Edel's is they were the only available in early 03. I had Bil's in a BMW with good results.

When you say smoother you don't mean softer do you? I'm looking to firm up the ride a bit.

I have 37's on and they seem to be giving the OEM shocks a run for their money.

I want a firm ride with little flex going into corners.

Unless you just want the look of the extra reservoir, I would go with their regular IAS shocks. I have used those on several different vehicles and I really like them.

I have been told that the xtreme travel shocks won't offer any better performance that their standard IAS for the H2. If you don't have a lift kit and since we don't have great articulation, the extra travel and extra fluid is not needed.

Hey Guys, the Edel's have very fast rebound and that is good. You want your wheels to stay in contact with the ground as much as possible. I have motorcycles with trick suspension and the best results for both the street and off road bikes has been fast compression and rebound. So I have never had a problem with my Edels on or off road on the H2.

The rising rate self-adjusting design of the Bilstein shock provides softer and firmer depend on the road surface. I feel better ride comfort on rough surface and stability on highway. I was thinking of upgrading sway bar but didn’t want to compromise the off-road capability of the truck.
