Annoying squeak in A pillar ...
Not a major item here, but I have had a annoying squeak resonating from the left A piller. The dealer looked at it twice and said it was a cable inside. The work order said they had removed the interior A pillar frame and straightened the cable. ?? It's not that type of squeak .. it's like a "hard plastic rubbing hard plastic" type squeak. Anyone else have this? When I hear it (always), it reminds me of that old truck in the old "Walton's Mountain" tv show shown on cable re-runs.

Re: Annoying squeak in A pillar ...
I get noises from mine at higher speeds. It comes from the passenger side though. I had the outside plastic trim replaced and it fixed the problem temporarily until the trim cracked again, a month later. It seems to be a common problem. Is your trim on the outside lifting up? Wind gets in there and makes noise. Sometimes squeeking, sometimes cracking.

Re: Annoying squeak in A pillar ...
Yep, I've already gone through all of that A pillar and roof rail replacement stuff in the beginning when I got my 3. This squeak is heard somewheres around where the A pillar touches the dash, in my opinion. It's an annoying little squeak that is first heard around 15mph .. like a creaking sound. (Not the same as the roof rail/exterior A pillar issue). This may be something I'll just have to live with. I've had my H3 2 years today ... maybe it's beginning to settle in.

Is that what they call trail creak? Too much offroading and things start to make noise. I try to tone mine out, I'll pay attention on the way home today, I think I have the same sound, as well as A=pillar trim racket/cracking windshield sound.

Re: Annoying squeak in A pillar ...
I chased that sound for about 4 weeks. I put foam rubber pads underneath the A piller trim. I lubed the draintube. The drain tube was taped to clamps along the A piller and was off in one spot. I used a wiretie to reclamp the drain tube to the clamp. I did a bunch of things at once before the sound went away. It wasn't scientific, but the sound was killing me.

THANK YOU!! It makes sense to me! You're right .. it's not scientific, but that squeak/creak is enough to drive you crazy! I swear .. as soon as I begin driving my ear tunes in to listen for the squeak/creak!

Mine squeaks too. Having my A-pillars and cracked roof rails replaced during my service next week. And I agree, it never hurts to lube the tube.
