Pictures of my First Slantback Attempt
Hey! Sorry it has taken me so long to get these pictures posted... Though I am a little reluctant to show them off, because it is not quite finished. I have not get the rear window in, the latch is still sitting at the shop, it is still only primered, and I have not got all of my seals finished.
I will be making a some more of these to sell, but they will not be exactly the same is this one. I am going to make the glass in the back a little bit taller, and I am also going to change the way that they top of the slantback meets up with the top of the hummer. Those two things bother me a bit, but other than that I really like the way it turned out! It looks like it will be completly water tight when its finished, and it really gives the SUT a tough look! I have already had countless people come up to my truck and ask me about it, and people really seem to like the look!!
I made this one out of 1/8th in. aluminum, and I think I will be using the same material in the future. There are also a couple pieces of aluminum angle on it for strength! I have not weighed the top but it is not too heavy... I can take it on and off by myself, although two people would make it easier!
Let me know what you think!!

Very nice, especially as a first attempt. Looks much cleaner than the fabric/vinyl ones (far too sloppy).

Re: Pictures of my First Slantback Attempt
It is not mouted over the factory tonou but it is mounted in the same exact mounting holes as the factory topper.
I am located in Marion, IN.
As for the price, I think they are going to start at about $2500 and then go up from there. Options will be remote unlock doors, dome light, and I think I just might through an electric lift gate on a few of them. The price is not set in stone, because I have not got my quote back from the laser cutter. It also depends on how many people look like are going to want one!
Thanks for your comments!

Why the hell if you wanted a full suv you didn't just buy it instead of farting around putting pieces of crap on the back of your nice truck . Keep it up and like my Dad use to say pretty soon you won't want it and nobody else either.

Because a slant back looks cooler than a full suv?

Re: Pictures of my First Slantback Attempt
Looks like it's sagging along the top.
1/8" seems a litte thick. Couldn't you use thinner material but frame in the inside with some small tubing?
I don't understand the utility of a slant back, but it definitely makes in unique.
