Default Squeaky Brakes

I own a 06 sut and my brakes are driving me crazy! They squeak every time I push the brake. Pads are good. I have had the rotors turned and it stopped for a while. Any suggestions for a fix? Thanks, M

One of the most causes is after they turn the rotors the mechanic need to reclean the surface areas and keep his greasy fingers off those areas of the rotors and Pads. any little grease or oils will make the brakes squeal and inferior pads can give you grief as well.

Don't worry; that was on the '05 I traded back in December. Someone else gets to listen to it now.

Here's a real easy fix that works 99% of the time.

Take your truck out on an empty road, get it up to about 60, and hit the brakes as hard as you can. The squel is caused by a buildup of brake dust on the pads. This action breaks it up.

Try it, bet it works !!!!!!!!!!

The H2 along with my Z06 have this same issue...... after 50 miles my wheels would be nearly black, when I put the CCW wheels (polished alum) on my Z06 I added ceramic pads along with cross drilled rotors.... No more squeaks or dust.

On the H2 I have not added ceramic pads as the dust/squeal issue is not nearly as bad, every other time I wash it I take it to one of the high powered spray pressure washes (do it yourself place) and clean the wheels/rotors/pads really good..... this eliminates any squeal that I had.

You did not mention the milage or if you do a lot of towing.
We had our pads replaced and the rotors turned at 65000.
We also upgraded to ceramic pads that really help a lot.

Chamfer the edges of the pads. Thats what causes brake squeel.
