GM could keep making parts for Hummer after possible sale
GM could keep making parts for Hummer after possible sale.

General Motors could end up making Hummer parts and subassemblies for another carmaker as part of a sell-off deal, GM product czar Bob Lutz said at the London motor show........

Its good that GM will keep making parts...
The quality will remain even if some 3rd world entity buys it.
Plus jobs will stick around for US workers!
That is always a good thing.

I just heard on FOX business that GM wasn't selling any of the brands. That could change though as I have heard so many different stories about this. I hope GM keeps HUMMER.

Re: GM could keep making parts for Hummer after possible sale
This whole thing sucks bad as I like to buy American, and Jeep is not an option, as the Hummer brand is a far superior vehicle. There has to be a better solution than just being a lam ass and giving up on Hummer. What if gas goes back to $3 a gallon, and SUV's become popular again(small chance I know), won't Rick Wagner feel like an ass? Call me narrow minded, but if it isn't GM, then I won't buy it! Why can't GM develop a Hybrid model of some kind? It just pisses me off that they want to just throw in the towel on a fine brand segment.

Good chance the sale will happen, but, how do they separate the GM Hummer facilities that are jioned at the head of the Cadillac or some other GM high end product line. I can not see how the dealer can or should burden the loss when the problem has roots deep within the GM culture and decision making process.

I think it is a bad move by GM not having any off road SUV's, in the future the energy dependence will be more diversified and less dependence on oil, or if we actually get the balls to tell the tree huggers to shut the hell up and drill our own oil, we wouldn't have to worry about selling Hummer. GM will regret this choice later on.

This will be a real test to see if GM management is committed to giving the people what they want or will they be more concerned with the amount of their bonuses.....?

What makes you think that domestic oil companies would set the price of their refined product so far below the world price that it would spur Americans into buying gas-guzzling suv's? They wouldn't maximize profits, because?????????????????????????????????????
How about developing new technology here in America that is more efficient = less oil usage -) decrease in oil demand -) decrease in price of oil -) increase in the sell of automobiles -) decrease in unemployment, increase in economic growth. Of course there could be a decrease in the money sent over seas to opec and a cleaner environment to live in as well.
